When oil recovery/collection job is completed ; emergency storage tanks, pumps, booms and skimmers have to be cleaned, overhauled and repaired inorderto ready for use in the next oil spill operation.
It is also important to survey, inspect and test equipment regularly so that it is in perfect working conditions, and to maintain personnel training standards by regular drills.
During oil spill response operations, it is of major importance to keep the equipment in a good operational condition.
To avoid secondary contamination, every time self standing/floating storage tanks, pumps, booms or skimmers are retrieved, cleaning and eventual repairs are necessary before following deployment and usage. |
